What’s the Point of Crack Cocaine?

Question by ShaunaTHEweirdo: What’s the point of Crack Cocaine?
I have a controversial question to ask, however I’m hoping on getting real answers.
So, it’s always been common knowledge for me that Crack Cocaine is made from Cocaine and baking soda. Today, I saw a website showing how to make crack. You use an entire OUNCE of COCAINE to make about 20 crack rocks.
So let’s assume each rock was 1 gram, a gram of crack costs $ 20 average (from what I found on google). A gram of cocaine costs $ 50 average. An ounce of crack costs, let’s say 560 dollars. An ounce of cocaine costs ONE THOUSAND AND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS.
So what are crack dealers gaining?!?! I DON’T SEE THE LOGIC AT ALL. Did I do math wrong? Am I misunderstanding prices? Why do people make crack if they gain nothing?? Please, someone enlighten me.

Well, in the UK crack rocks are sold for £20 a half gram – same price as cocaine half grams.
I’m aware that there are 28.3 grams to an ounce and it takes an ounce of cocaine to make about 20 grams of crack, so obviously the dealers are loosing money.
However, in the UK crack is more common and easier to sell in some parts, which is why the dealers turn their cocaine into crack. They can sell the crack quicker and easier than cocaine, and make more money in the long run doing it that way.
Having that said, that is what happens in the UK, the US may be different though.
