What Would Be the Effect of Using Cocaine, Just ONCE?

Question by ibleedpanic: What would be the effect of using cocaine, just ONCE?
If someone tried cocaine only once, how would it affect them? Whenever people talk about cocaine, they always rattle off a huge list of adverse effects that can happen as a result of long-term use… but I just want to know how it impacts someone if they only use it one time.

I have heard that you can become addicted after one use. Is that true?

Please, only unbiased responses. Don’t try to talk me out of trying it because I’m not planning to – I’m just wondering if it’s really as bad as people say, or if they’re just trying to scare people out of doing it. I realize that long-term use is obviously horrible for you, but when does cocaine start to affect you negatively, or as negatively as people say it does?
I guess I’m not asking what CAN happen, but rather what WILL happen. I know that some people can have seizures or strokes the first time, but how likely is that? It seems like those are just a few cases that people use as examples to deter people from trying it…

We’re studying drugs in my chemistry class right now, and we used to in health class, and of course they’re trying to convince us that everyone who uses cocaine even once is going to have some horrible reaction to it, or die, but I guess I’m just wondering how common that actually is.

You can actually die. Its actually very common to die the first try, at least that’s what my health teacher told me. And its very addictive, yes you can get addicted the first time.

Different drugs affect different people differently. It has to do with differences in our brain chemistry. While someone could get psychologically addicted to cocaine after one use, it’s doubtful. Cocaine is a stimulant. The immediate effects of cocaine include euphoria, alertness, concentration, wakefulness. It can also cause irritability, restlessness and insomnia. See link below for more details. It also increases heart rate, blood pressure, temperature and sweating. Because of these physiological effects there is a risk
Of dying the first time you try it.
