This is a good question!
I often wondered about same thing.
As a dentist I can see the ill-effect it has orally and we all know how it affects the heart and lungs as well as circulation, but I believe it def has a pyschological effect.

Personally when I gave up smoking I felt better, but then again this may just be a sense of achievement.

I have read they can lessen the effects of some antidepressants.

Plus they’re associated with inertia, so they dont make me people feel particularily active in my opinion.

The knowledge that you’re addicted to anything can be a source of self disappointment.

Pangs for cigareetes can cause irritability, so I agree with your theory.

that would happen more if she was trying 2 quit smoking. She might just be emotional?
