Has Anyone Had Any Luck With Out Patient Treatment for Cocaine?

Question by Kimmay: Has Anyone Had any Luck with Out patient Treatment for Cocaine?
My husband Has finally admitted he has a problem & he wants help. He wants to do outpatient treatment or Narc-Anon. Has anyone gone through this and had luck getting off the stuff? Or is Inpatient Rehab the only solution. This is not the first time he has gone through this, but this time he is aware that he needs professional help…. I need to know what to do. I love him & I want to support him with this in the best way I can.

I am going to suggest In Patient to start, this is where he will find out how to begin. Out Patient will be where he solidifies and Narc Anon is where he will find support. Keep in mind the programs will only work if he works the programs, he has to be serious about it in the first place otherwise it simply will not work. Also bear in mind there is no such thing as an ex-addict or former addict. An addiction is for life and the only thing an addict has to look forward to is abstinence or going back to the substance of choice which can end only in death or prison. I know this as fact; I am an addict, I am a survivor.
I am going to make another suggestion: You get involved in a support group too, it will help you to understand what he is going through and how to deal with the changes that ARE going to happen. No, you do not have to be an addict to attend an addicts support group. Many “normies” do attend in order to try to understand and help their loved one(s). Understand this: Be pro-active, be consistent and be positive.
Getting clean and staying clean is going to be rough on both of you at first, fortunately it will get easier as time goes by. One last thought: Do not expect all this to happen on a ‘time-line’, there is no such thing. Recovery is 24 hours a day 7 days a week for life.
