My step son was diagnosed at the age of eight with severe ADHD, and has been on Ritalin now for 7 years. It absolutely works, as evidenced by the fact that if a dose is missed, he becomes too obnoxious to be around THAT DAY. Neither of us are dolts when it comes to medications, and we’ve certainly asked our share of questions to the prescriber. But now I hear that adults use is as speed, it can be purchased “on the street”, and it’s the latest drug scandal (along with Adderall [sp]) in Major League Baseball. This obviously makes me worry about what we’re giving to our kid!
When did this “adult cocaine” thing start, and does the drug actually become speed for non-ADHD individuals? Wouldn’t this concern you if your child was in a position to depend on this medication or have a miserable life? And where in the hell does all this “street Ritalin” come from? To the best of my knowledge, it is not typically prescribed for adults. So are their people that jamming through their kid’

Ritalin works in the brain, the very same way cocaine does, the only difference is that its legal and not to be snorted, although if you do so, it feels better than most cocain available on the streets, that is highly impure. Society claims for a standard behavior, those that dont accomplish it are lead to use drugs (prescribed or illegal). Why do you think people use illegal drugs anyway? We cannott have an artist mind, be a dreamer, one has to sit and listen and learn just like the rest of the bunch. You are giving your step son cocaine so that he adjust to society. But thats just normal, in the eighties, everyone was doing cocain, to pump the economy, wall street was all covered with cocain, and see how much money they’ve made. But thats just what society wants, turn on the tv and see the work of drugged up people that keep the show going, to entertain those that think they have nothing to do with drugs. Can you live without tv or movies? Than you cant live without drugs. Thats our society, sick or not.
