Your friend is a retard.

First off, MANY studies have been done on giving ADD/ADHD Medication (stimulant based) to children and it has been shown that even though ALL people with the genetics for addiction also have ADD/ADHD, use of stimulants in those individuals don’t equate to addiction as an adult.

There are MANY MANY retards out there that don’t understand the biology behind either addiction or ADD/ADHD and pull numbers and opinions directly from their bum’s.

If you have ADD/ADHD, you should look into different treatment options after the age of 18 because that is when the brain finishes developing and the stimulant drugs can start to work differently since your brain is now different than it was when you were still developing. Stimulants aren’t as effective for adults with ADD/ADHD…

When used Recreationally, it can be addictive because adderall is an altered form of Amphetamine. Meaning, it is a chemical cousin to meth amphetamines but is not the same.

ALL people that take adderall can become physically dependent on it and acquire a tolerance to it but unless you have the Genetics for Addiction, you will detox from it and never think about it again…

Addiction isn’t about what you are doing or even how much you are doing… Addiction is defined by the inability to stop doing something despite mounting consequences.

People can trigger the pathways in the brain that result in Addiction by using adderall recreationally but that was going to happen eventually, regardless of what triggers it… And usually alcohol use in early 20’s tends to be the trigger for most people.

Cocaine is FAR more addictive than Amphetamines but actually does less damage to the brain in the long term… in fact, a little known study shows that if you are doing lots of Speed, doing some coke with it or after actually blocks some of the brain damaging release of chemicals in the brain… You’ll get a dual addiction and get strung out faster, but you’re brain will be less damaged.

The Biology and Psychology of Addiction is a FASCINATING topic and I highly recommend you read a book called “Cracked” by doctor Drew Pinsky.
